Osbourne House is the sumptuous holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It’s a mile outside East Cowes on the north of the island about 12 miles or 25 minutes’ drive from Appuldurcombe Farm.
Queen Victoria wrote “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot”. The house overlooks the Solent and terraced gardens drop down to the beach.
Much of the house is open to the public as are the grounds. This is one of the most popular visitor attractions on the Isle of Wight and is maintained by English Heritage.
